BSA Officer
The BSA Officer at Horizon is a hands-on compliance leader, dedicated to safeguarding our customers and ensuring our Bank remains a trusted, responsible institution – balancing leadership with day-to-day engagement. Reporting to our Chief Risk Officer, this role not only oversees the Bank’s BSA/AML compliance program but also actively participates in ongoing monitoring, investigations, and reporting. As a key member of our risk management team, you’ll build strong partnerships across departments, provide expert guidance, and lead with integrity, while remaining closely involved in the operational work that ensures our BSA program stays effective and responsive. This is a full-time, in-person position based in our North Austin office (12007 Technology Drive) with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule. WHAT WILL I DO?
As the BSA Officer, you will support and oversee the Bank’s BSA/AML compliance program, with a focus on regulatory reporting, Verafin case management, customer due diligence, and ongoing program maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the Bank’s Verafin system expert, including secondary reviews and preparation of CTRs, SARs, watchlist screening results, alerts, and cases.
- Review escalated alerts and ensure appropriate investigation, documentation, and resolution.
- Oversee customer due diligence processes, including enhanced due diligence (EDD) for medium- and high-risk customers.
- Maintain and update BSA/AML policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review and adjust Verafin parameter settings to support effective monitoring and reporting.
- Prepare quarterly BSA/AML reporting for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Lead BSA/AML training efforts for employees, executives, and Board members.
- Coordinate BSA/AML audit and examination requests, including documentation and follow-up responses.
- Other duties as assigned and/or taken on.

Specific requirements include:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Business, Accounting, Finance, or another related field, and 2+ years of related BSA/AML experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties of this position.
- Strong knowledge of BSA/AML regulations.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Optimistic, internally motivated, team-oriented personality; and
- Ability to make decisions, create change, and help grow a company – while growing yourself.
Desired qualifications:
- 5+ years of direct industry experience.
- Compliance certifications.
- Working to strong knowledge of BSA/AML software such as Verafin and Attus Watchdog.
